ABOUT

Stephanie Lama, MA, LMHC, LPC
Owner and Founder

Stephanie is a licensed bilingual therapist and Founder of Unify Behavioral Health, LLC based in Arlington, Virginia. Her professional background includes providing mental health counseling services (both individual and group) to diverse populations of adults and adolescents in a variety of outpatient treatment settings.

While she treats a wide range of issues, her specialties include working with veterans and first responders, as well as adults who have experienced challenges with depression/mood disorders, anxiety, trauma/abuse, addiction/substance use, relationship conflicts, infidelity, self-acceptance, identity issues, and major life changes. She relies on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing Techniques, and Psychodynamic Theories.  As a native-Spanish speaker, she also provides comprehensive immigration evaluations (Asylum, Hardship Waivers, U Visa and VAWA cases).

Her approach is person-centered, strength-based, and solution focused depending on the needs of the client.  She honors the person as they are, and helps them realize their maximum potential through positive reinforcement, guidance, and support, within a multicultural and trauma-informed lens. She tends to be direct in a gentle manner, while also employing a good deal of humor in her work with clients.

She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Suffolk University and an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with Trauma Specialization from Lesley University.
